John 3:16 mentions that Christ died on the cross for our sins, now what exactly does that mean? Well, for starters, this is the very foundation of our faith, the sacrifice of His only son. It has been not only confirmed by the old testament but also by modern day historians. One might ask how could we learn more about this ‘good news’? In this blog, I will help show y’all what it means and how y’all can find it.
Romans 10:9 clearly explains how to be saved. It is imperative to understand that through his death, we are let free from our sinful past and brought into the hands of the father almighty. Recognizing his sacrifice on the cross is the first step of having faith but also understanding his omnipotence and his power is one more step to having faith. Faith, as described in verse 10, is an action and is meant to be shown to the masses. In verse 17, it explains how one could achieve such faith.
Secondly, repentance and the avoidance of sin is necessary for a proper Christian lifestyle. Sin is the reason as to why we are here; sin has drawn us away from our heavenly father so much so that we needed (and still need) a savior, a middleman, and someone to take accountability for us. Acts 3:19 gives clear instructions on how to conduct repentance. What exactly does repentance mean? Repentance can take numerous forms, but in its essence, it means to turn away from sin and confess them to our heavenly father.
Thirdly, one must be baptized in order to get into the kingdom. This is not only because we want to imitate Christ but it is also symbolic for the washing away of sins. As one might infer, baptism and repentance go hand in hand, as they are both a lifelong commitment for the avoidance of sins. Acts 2:38 also gives a very straight forward direction on how to live a healthy Christian lifestyle.
